Our Future
An award-winning 7-8 week (Paid) Summer programme aimed at 16 to19-year-olds with an introduction to the business world and life skills.
Our Future is Living Bankside Academy’s flagship programme, going into its third year in 2024.
It provides diverse opportunities for young people aged 16 to 19 from Bankside, SE1, Southwark, and the surrounding areas (from various backgrounds including those severely disadvantaged such as looked after children)
About the Programe
Businesses and organisations donate their time in kind to carry out the theme of the project brief, and the young people gain a practical understanding of the working world.
Local, National and International businesses/organisations participate in the programme to provide training sessions/workshops which:
Showcase their fields of expertise in relation to the theme;
and to help develop a number of key skills and fundamentals, including: Public
Speaking, Teamwork, Negotiation, Resilience, Project Management, Event Management, Presenting, Confidence, Copywriting, Scriptwriting, Producing, Filming, Directing, Research and much more.
The Programme is impact measured (monitoring improvements in skills and attainment of aspirational goals) with a focus on tangible outcomes (followed up with work placements, jobs and or further education/vocational course).
Following the programme each student becomes an alumni and is guaranteed 10 years of ad-hoc advice and support.
All of the Alumni are in either further education, a vocational course and/or a job which compliments their long term aspirations.
The focus of the 2024 programme will be on Tech and Innovation.
A number of companies and organisations have and continue to participate in the programme, including but not limited to:
Borough Market, Shakespeare's Globe, TATE Modern, TP Bennett, Hilton London Bankside, WPP, US Embassy, LUSH, King's College, London, Giff Gaff, MACE, News UK, Live Group, JPMorgan and NatWest

What do the young people do?
Organise networking event
Organise a business networking event for 200+ people (Celebration Event)
Create invitation video
Create an invitation video for the Celebration Event
Create journey video
Create a journey video showcasing who they have met and what they learnt.
Create + present or launch idea
Soft launch or present an idea, campaign or project etc – relating to the project brief/theme for the year.
Create a short film which accompanies the soft launch/presentation.
